The crystals, which are heat-sinked on, vary in price by as much as 30%. With 50-200 crystals per shirt the costing variance may vary by 30% as well.

The Story: At Christian Alexander sweat shirts have a whole new meaning. Each shirt is hand made with a pattern designed for the customer. Color, size, and pattern sell the shirts. Each pattern has a logo made out of crystals. Champion was Customized at the order entry screen to actually build a shirt through an AI type process. Each order as it comes up asks the operator for the shirt type and color, pattern type, size and then the logo. Thus at each level a unique cost is captured for that component and is tallied at the end of that item and printed on the sales order – pick list. The process is repeated until you are done ordering shirts. The order is then processed for freight and tax if applicable and printed. The sales order form was also customized to show color size pattern and logo, also store number and department number.
The calculated cost of the built sweatshirt is then listed below the item on the sales order-pick list. This system has saved in time materials and dollars over $50,000 in the last two years.
