PR /Award No. R215R990002 from 1999-2004 for $2M, leading regional
science systemic reform. The SEA Program provides member districts
with: (1) financial support to acquire reform curriculum, (FOSS K-6),
(2) professional development, (180 professional development courses to
date), (3) integrated science outreach program and associated
curriculum, (300 classrooms to date), integrated science application
experience aboard a vessel and at the Naval Undersea Museum with
associated curriculum (400 classrooms or 10,000 students to date), (4)
development of supporting website in partnership with Paladin Data Inc.
(sea-keyport.org), and (5) coordination of regional navy/human resource
assets.
The SEA Program currently reaches 38 elementary schools
in 10 school districts spanning 5 counties—675 teachers and 16,800
students covering the rural and remote Olympic Peninsula of Washington
State (Peninsula, North Mason, Bremerton, Central Kitsap, Quilcene,
Brinnon, Chimacum, Port Townsend, Crescent, Queets-Clearwater School
Districts).
