Phantom DHD2 ROV

UAS also operates a Deep Ocean Engineering, Inc. Phantom DHD2 ROV with an NTSC video camera, dual lights, custom aluminum crash frame and torque balanced thrusters. It also has a radar system, altimeter and compass. Additionally the ROV has two mounted manipulator arms.  One with two and the other with seven degrees of freedom.

The Phantom DHD2 is a boxy looking device with several thrusters to propel it through the water in any direction.  The entire vehicle is operated topside via a control station that looks like a set of industrial strength video game controllers.  Controlling the ROV takes a great deal of skill and common sense, and three hands are useful too. Launching the vehicle is a team effort. (See Max Rover.)
