The combination of the adventure of
exploration and undersea technologies, provides an excellent
opportunity to develop educational programs that make the subjects of
science, history, oceanography and biology truly come alive for those
students who have the desire to experience and work in the marine
environment.
During the summer of 2005, Underwater
Admiralty Sciences partnered with the Museum of Flight and conducted an
Intruction to Scuba Diving and Microgravity Program for the students in
the Aerospace Camp Experience. The program has become very
popular and has grown from the initial pilot session to two separate
programs being offered during four weeks of the summer ACE
program. In the first program students learn about location and
recovery of historic aircraft from underwater locations. The
second program focuses on migrogravity and the types of training that
astronauts experience in preparing for the weightless environment of
space. The PADI Discover Scuba Course is taught and then the
students actually get to experience SCUBA and the microgravity environment of neutral buoyancy.
